In its first appearance in Ninawa, Alnoor University carried the name Alnoor University College, which began its academic activities in 2013 with four academic departments: Law, Physical Education and Sports Sciences, Arabic Language, and English Language. With the entry of terrorist gangs into the city, the university relocated to an alternative site in Alsheikhan, which it occupied until 2017, when it moved to another location in Bartella, with the vision of establishing a permanent campus. Soon, it found land in Alshallalat, where construction began and was completed in 2020, after which the university moved there. By then, it had added new departments: Dentistry, Pharmacy, Medical Laboratory Techniques, Dental Technology, Radiology Technology, Optics Technology, Anesthesia Technology, Civil Engineering, and Project Management. At the Alshallalat campus, additional departments were established, including Petroleum Engineering, Digital Media, Translation, Computer Science, and Artificial Intelligence Engineering. According to Ministry Order No. 7565 issued on 01/04/2024, the college was transformed into Al-Nour University, becoming the first private university in Ninawa. Today, it includes ten colleges supported by administrative and operational units, in addition to educational clinics for Dentistry and Alnoor FM Radio. The university has organized numerous scientific activities, including conferences, seminars, workshops, lectures, and continuing education programs. Among its most prominent events are the First International Dentistry Conference, the International Aviation and Sustainable Development Conference, the three International English Conferences, the Second International Medical and Health Sciences Conference, the International Educational Security Conference, and others, in addition to a series of student conferences. It also hosts student forums for various forms of creativity to discover and enhance the creative skills of its talented students. The university has entered the Times Impact Sustainable Development ranking and the UI GreenMetric ranking, achieving an advanced position in the Iraqi university rankings. Alnoor University operates a fleet of buses covering parts of Mosul, providing round trips to the university with an electronic payment system as part of its digital technology adoption. It also fosters a clean and well-equipped campus environment.
